Rider fixing a tire

Our Programs

Community Outreach

Fixathon:
An intensive, community-based bike repair event where a team of mechanics brings tools, parts, and supplies to a local site to diagnose and fix as many bicycles as possible as quickly as possible—handling both minor tune-ups and major repairs.

Tune-a-Thon:
A quick-service event focused on light, on-the-spot adjustments and safety checks—such as inflating tires, adjusting brakes, and lubricating chains—to ensure bikes are immediately safe and ready to ride.

Education

Tune-Up Class Series:
At the Ohio City Bicycle Co-op is a hands-on, four-week course held on Saturday mornings from 9 AM to noon. Using standardized shop bikes, students learn essential bicycle maintenance—including wheel truing, bearing and brake adjustments, gear tuning, and safety checks—to confidently maintain their own bikes at home or in the shop.

Bike Basics:
At 7 PM on the first and third Wednesday of every month, an accessible/drop in class for folks who want to be a little more ride ready than they currently are.

Pay What You Can Program

The Ohio City Bicycle Co-op believes everyone should have access to bicycles for transportation, health, and joy. Our Pay What You Can (PWYC) program helps people with financial challenges obtain and repair bicycles for adults and children. We also provide essential accessories such as helmets, locks, and lights.

The PWYC program supports our organization’s values of service, community, and skill building. Individuals receiving bikes with financial assistance often return to work with us through our volunteer program.
